- Stop waste at its source, before it reaches the ocean
- Prevention of microplastics leaks from industry polluters
- Ghost net recovery and recycling
MARINE DEBRIS IMPACT
Volunteers, organisations and community groups from around the country join forces to find practical solutions to reducing ocean plastics.
With an estimated 40,000 pieces of plastic floating in every square kilometre of the ocean, marine debris is considered one of the major environmental issues impacting our world. The rubbish degrading in our oceans creates toxic effects for humans and animals.
We coordinate the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI), an on-ground network of volunteers, communities, organisations and agencies around the country monitoring the levels, impacts and sources of marine debris along their stretch of coastline.
