Locations: Christmas Island & Cocos (Keeling) Islands (work from home and in the field)
Eligibility: Applicants must hold valid working rights in Australia and already reside on either Christmas Island or Cocos (Keeling) Islands. This role is NOT suitable for applicants wishing to relocate.

We're looking for two enthusiastic and reliable Marine Debris Monitoring Coordinators to help deliver our marine debris monitoring programs on Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Tangaroa Blue Foundation's Australian Marine Debris Initiative, while helping protect some of Australia's most unique island environments.
About the Role
As a Marine Debris Monitoring Coordinator, you'll coordinate and undertake marine debris monitoring activities either monthly or quarterly using the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database. You'll work closely with Tangaroa Blue Foundation to collect high-quality data that helps identify sources of marine debris and supports practical solutions to reduce pollution.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate scheduled marine debris monitoring activities.
- Collect and record marine debris data using the AMDI Database.
- Engage with local volunteers and community members where appropriate.
- Submit monitoring data and reports on time.
- Maintain monitoring equipment and project resources.
- Represent Tangaroa Blue Foundation professionally within the local community.
We're Looking For Someone Who Is
- Passionate about protecting the marine environment.
- Well organised and reliable.
- Comfortable working outdoors in coastal environments.
- Able to work independently.
- Confident using basic digital tools for data collection and communication.
- A strong communicator with good attention to detail.
Previous experience in environmental monitoring, conservation, community engagement or project coordination is desirable but not essential.
