Amanda Welschbillig and Jeannie Richardson are friends who share a determination to live a more beautiful, more efficient, less cluttered, less wasteful life. After both read “Zero Waste Home” by Bea Johnson, grocery shopping in bulk stores became an obvious next step towards eliminating single use plastic packing from their lives. The hitch was that there were no such stores within a commutable distance of their homes in the Perth Hills. So the answer seemed to be to open one!

Opening a brand new store brought with it the opportunity to create something truly unique and firmly aligned to its owners vision. At Wasteless Pantry all the pantry staples are available for purchase package free, in any quantity, large or small. Top priority is given to sourcing locally, and in store you will find a huge range of food stuffs sourced within Australia, Western Australia and sometimes just down the road!

Sharing the shelves with all the nuts, dried fruits, seeds, coffee, teas, flours, oils, vinegars, spices and honey is a carefully selected range of aids and reusables to help anyone cut down / out their waste. Reusable produce bags, stainless steel straws, reusable coffee cups and pods and naked lunch box options are all available for purchase and well informed staff are on hand to offer advice and support.

Amanda and Jeannie are thrilled with the to date success of the store and the reception it has had from the local community and further afield. Here’s hoping the success continues and inspires others to start similar adventures!

Make sure you drop in and see them at Shop 17, Mundaring Shopping Village, 7295 Great Eastern Highway, Mundaring WA 6073 and check them out on Facebook..
