Source Reduction Workshop – Warrnambool
If all we do is clean up, that’s all we’ll ever do. We need to stop the plastic at the source.
Are you concerned about the amount of plastic floating around in our oceans and want to take a positive step towards reducing it?
This is the 3rd and final (for now) in a series of Source Reduction Plan (SRP) Workshops designed to help the community and government stakeholders to better understand the issue of marine debris in our local area (Warrnambool to Port Fairy) and develop an on-going plan to address it.
Who should attend?
Anyone who is curious or worried about this issue and wants a chance to engage with individuals and organisations who are active in this space, or just wants an update on what this project has achieved.
At this workshop, we will get an update of the local, national and global situation regarding marine debris as well as review the data collected by the many volunteers who have been working on cleaning-up, categorising and uploading data on what they have found. We’ll hear updates from several locally active groups of their activities in the past year and review the progress of SRP implementation thus far, and gather everyone’s feedback on the plan moving forward. Together, based on the findings presented on the day, we will determine if new priority items have surfaced that require attention.
This is being presented in partnership with The Clean Oceans Collective. To register, visit Eventbrite/SRP Warrnambool. For further information please contact Melissa Tuliranta on 0423 063 820 or by email: melissa@tangaroablue.org.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided. To reduce our waste, we ask that you please bring your own coffee mug and water bottle.
