ReefBlitz – Alva Beach – Burdekin – QL
Join forces with Tangaroa Blue Foundation, the Gudjuda Reference Group, Burdekin Shire Council, Ayr’s Surf Life Saving Club, Queensland Parks and Wildlife, and the Department of Environment and Science for the Great Northern Clean Up and ReefBlitz celebrations!
Take a trip to the Burdekin on Sunday the 20th of October 2018 for an 8:30am beach clean-up meeting at Alva Beach Park. Your efforts will contribute to the existing KG of rubbish that has been logged into the Australian Marine Debris Initiative Database since May 2015. Alva Beach is a beautiful location with the sunken SS Yongala, that supports over 150 species, located only 30 minutes offshore! The environment and the wildlife associated with this area are under threat by discarded marine debris, local littering and illegal dumping activities.
This event is funded by Burdekin Shire Council and will finish with a BBQ sausage sizzle for lunch.
As a participant please bring:
– reusable water bottle
– wear enclosed footwear
– hat & sunnies, sunscreen
– sun smart clothing
To register please email vanessa@tangaroablue.org
