Port Douglas Marine Debris Source Reduction Workshop – QLD
If all we do is clean up, that’s all we’ll ever do. This Source Reduction Plan workshop invites community members, local businesses, school representatives and government representatives to assist in the development of a local plan that stops litter at it’s source. Everyone is welcome and you don’t have to have experience in this field, just an interest in protecting our local environment and the Great Barrier Reef.
This year we’ll be tackling cigarette butts, which are found commonly during local community clean-ups and cause harm in the environment! Not everyone knows that cigarette butts are made of plastic and leach toxins into the environment once left as litter.
This workshop is part of the ReefClean project which is funded by the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and coordinated by Tangaroa Blue and Conservation Volunteers Australia
The workshop is being supported by the Douglas Shire Council
