Coral Sea Expedition Data Sorting

What: Coral Sea Expedition Data Sorting
When: 27th July 2021 | 10-3pm (no one is required to stay the whole time but we do ask that you arrive at 12pm so we can receive an induction from Council at the same time)
Where: Portsmith Transfer Station, park at the Buy Back shop
To register: email mathilde@tangaroablue.org

*IMPORTANT* It is vital that volunteers wear enclosed shoes, long pants and long sleeves due to the council’s strict Work Health and Safety Conditions*At this event we will be sorting through marine debris collected on a recent expedition to the Coral Sea by Parks Australia.

All data will be entered into the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database and will help to establish a more comprehensive picture of marine debris on the Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea. This data in particular will build on a previous expedition that Tangaroa Blue completed with Parks Australia in 2016.

Volunteers can park at the Buy Back Shop carpark at the Portsmith Transfer Station. From there we will receive a small safety induction before sorting the data.

Volunteers need to wear enclosed shoes and drinking water (1 to 2 litres is recommended). We try to ensure that all Tangaroa Blue events are free from single-use plastic, so bring along your reusable water bottle. All equipment and drinking water top-ups will be provided.
We will provide you with some snacks, so let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.
To register or for any questions, please email mathilde@tangaroablue.org.

Tangaroa Blue will be adhering to the latest advice from the QLD Government on COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines. If you feel unwell – please don’t attend and stay at home – we’ll catch you on another event
