In 2004, Heidi Taylor had a groundbreaking idea: instead of merely cleaning up marine debris, why not trace it back to its source to prevent its entry into the ocean altogether?
Back then, awareness of this issue was scarce. Fast forward two decades, and we find ourselves amidst a global plastics crisis. Yet, Tangaroa Blue has persisted and expanded our operations, both nationally and internationally, to develop innovative solutions aimed at preventing marine debris.
We take immense pride in our journey over the past 20 years and are grateful for the incredible partnerships, organisations, and volunteers who have supported us along the way. Without their unwavering dedication, we wouldn’t have achieved what we have today.
To commemorate our 20th anniversary, we’re turning it into a year-long celebration! Stay tuned for details on special events happening throughout the year.
