ReefClean GBR Clean-up Flagship Event – Ross Creek, Townsville, QLD

What:ReefClean GBR Clean-up Flagship Event – Ross Creek, Townsville, QLD
Where: Meet at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Gate G (parking on site)
When: Saturday 16/10/2021, 8am-12pm.
Registration for ReefClean’s Great Barrier Reef Clean-up is now open! Join us at Ross Creek on the 16th of October. We’ll start at 8am and end the event with lunch at 12pm for our volunteers.
The clean-up data you collect will help us track litter to its source and prevent it from entering the waste stream and harming our Great Barrier Reef.
Volunteers need to wear enclosed shoes, bring sun/rain protection, and plenty of drinking water (1 to 2 litres is recommended). We try to ensure that all events are free from single-use plastic, so bring along your reusable water bottle. All equipment and drinking water top-ups will be provided.
We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we will be meeting for this event, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
Thank you to Queensland Country Bank Stadium for their support to make this event happen.
More about the Great Barrier Reef Clean-up:
Are you a citizen scientist who is concerned about the health of the Great Barrier Reef? Maybe a school or community group who would like to monitor the health of the Great Barrier Reef? Or are you a member of the local government, and would like to lead by example by becoming actively involved in contributing to the overall health of one of the most biologically diverse environments on this planet?
This October marks the start of our month-long series of events that focus on looking after our Reef. Tangaroa Blue Foundation, through the ReefClean Project is calling all ocean lovers to participate in the Great Barrier Reef Clean-Up. A number of flagship events such as the one above will be held over the course of the month.
The program also invites groups to adopt and register their own coastal or waterway sites to be cleaned throughout the month, so if you know of a site in your area that needs attention, we encourage you to register that site and get a group together. Please click here to register your own site.
