Cape Bedford Clean-up, Hopevale – Cape York QLD
Tangaroa Blue, along with Conservation Volunteers Australia, are heading up to Hopevale in Far North QLD for the sixth year to work with the Hopevale Congress Rangers and local community on their annual Cape Bedford Clean-up event.
This will kick off as the first Cape York clean-up trip for 2019, departing on May 5th at 8 am from Cairns and returning on May 11th by 5 pm. Spaces in the vehicles will be limited, but if you have your own 4WD and would like to join us, let us know!
We will stop for a quick look around Cooktown and continue up to Elim Campground, which will be called home for the following five days while we collect marine debris from Cape Bedford Beach. Features of the landscape include the many and varied colours of Rainbow Beach and the mountain-scapes that catch your eye from Elim Beach. Other than the amazing views and tranquillity, the campsite will also provide toilets and cold showers. Volunteers are asked to bring their camping gear (tents, sleeping bags, pillow, mattress, etc), but Tangaroa Blue will provide food and cooking equipment.
This event is suitable for volunteers with a medium fitness level.
