Earthcache Day at Boulder Beach

Celebrate Earthcache Day with us at Boulder Beach, a beautiful spot nestled between two nearby Earthcaches…

We’re excited to invite you to a morning of environmental stewardship as we team up for a Community Involvement Through the Outdoors (CITO) event! Every visit to Boulder Beach reveals debris washed ashore, and it’s time to make a difference.

In 2022, our dedicated volunteers successfully cleaned the 5 Beach Loop at Cape York, removing an incredible 3 tonnes of rubbish. We carefully sorted this waste into various categories—materials, sizes, weights, brands, and even countries of origin—inputting this important data into the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database to enhance prevention and education efforts.

Now, we want to share this valuable experience with the Geocaching community!

Join us for a morning cleanup where our team will guide you on how to effectively sort debris and enter the data into our system. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, contribute to environmental conservation, and connect with a passionate community dedicated to making a positive impact. Let’s come together to help our Earth and foster change. We look forward to seeing you there!

Where: Boulder Beach. Meet at Rocky Point Road car park, Skennars Head

When: Sunday 11th October | 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Come for the full morning or help out for an hour – every bit helps.

Bring: Sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses, water, grabbing tool, sensible shoes for walking on boulders, snacks.

Extra sunscreen, cask water, gloves, bags, 1st aid kit, sharps container, hand sanitiser will be provided.

There will also be fruit, muesli bars and electrolytes (BYO reusable cup or bottle).

This is not a patrolled beach and does have rips. Lennox Head and Sharpe’s Beach are safe to swim, with Surf Lifesavers on patrol.

Toilets are a 5-minute drive in either direction at Pat Moreton Lookout or Sharpe’s Beach.

No crocodiles!
