We're hiring a Project Coordinator in Brisbane & Perth

Role Title: Project Coordinator 
Employment Status: Casual
Reports To: Project Manager / CEO
Location: Brisbane & Perth area (work from home and in the field)

Are you passionate about protecting our oceans and want to make a real impact? Tangaroa Blue Foundation is seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator to drive community engagement and science-based solutions to tackle marine debris.

Tangaroa Blue’s (TBF’s) purpose is to minimise the impact of marine debris on marine and human life across fresh or saltwater country through community engagement and science.


The Project Officer role: 

    • Support the Project Manager and/or CEO in administrative and logistical matters to ensure the successful delivery of TBF projects.
    • Provide expertise in the research, development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of special TBF projects. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the resourcing of TBF projects.
  • Collaborate with TBF management to scope potential new projects and funding opportunities.
  • Work with relevant TBF staff and stakeholders to deliver special projects.
  • Document and complete action items from meetings.
  • Prepare presentation materials to support stakeholder meetings.
  • Ensure all PPE and equipment are available and provided to project workers and volunteers.
  • Provide administrative support, particularly in the execution of key project deliverables.
  • Ensure projects adhere to and document all necessary processes and information.
  • Protect TBF’s reputation at all times.
  • Coordinate with vendors to avoid project delays.
  • Support the scheduling and tracking of project deliverables.

Essential requirements:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience in a specialised field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a project management role.
  • Current workplace-approved First Aid and CPR certification (if on-ground work is required).
  • Current Blue Card or Working with Children Check (if on-ground work is required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and internet applications.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant Federal and State Government policies.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Australian South Sea Islander communities, and other culturally diverse groups.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of key issues and developments in relevant fields.

Personal and Professional development

  • Continue to develop professionally and personally to meet evolving organisational needs.
  • Participate in TBF’s performance management process.
  • Attend training as identified through performance reviews or by management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of organisational policies and procedures and stay informed of changes.
