Rig Recycle

Diverting Recreational Fishing Gear from Landfill

The Rig Recycle Program

The Rig Recycle program is an Australian-first initiative that collects selected recreational fishing and packaging items and diverts them from landfill through an innovative repair, reuse, and recycling framework.

This pioneering project brings together recreational fishers, clean-up volunteers, fishing retailers and suppliers, social enterprises, and community partners to find holistic, truly circular solutions that address the current recycling gap.

By changing consumer and retailer recycling behaviours, the Rig Recycle program aims to prevent fishing gear and packaging from becoming litter or ending up in landfill, protecting our environment and supporting a more sustainable future.

GUY LAMBERT

Rig Recycle Youth Ambassador

I’m Guy, a 13yo from Brisbane. My passions are fishing and protecting our aquatic ecosystems from pollution. Being a Rig Recycle Ambassador is important to me because I believe looking after the environment we fish in is vital – for giving back to the marine creatures we love capturing to eat/release, and to maintain and cleanse our waters of the toxic litter that has accumulated. Wherever I go I love connecting with fishos and am very excited to have the opportunity to work with everyone at Tangaroa Blue and Rig Recycle to help influence a brighter fishing future.
