TONIC Photochromic Glass lens construction

TONIC optically ground decentered glass lenses, Vistaview™, are a lightweight 1.7mm thin glass, designed for wearing all day long and extremely light weight that you wouldn’t know they are actually glass. All TONIC Polarised glass lenses have an anti-reflective coating on the back surface of the lens, reducing back surface reflection by 45%.

our process

We used the monofilament fishing line recycled through Rig Recycle stations in tackle stores across Australia to create the frames for a limited edition run of premium sunglasses.

Worked with Martogg to develop a recycled Nylon-6 compounded material for sunglass frame production.

Injection Moulding trials (with B&C Plastics) to recycle ABS fishing spool plastic were a success.

RIG RECYCLE AT AFTA

Rig Recycle’s first display at AFTA TACKLE SHOW (Gold Coast). The program has attended with a stand every year since 2022.

RIG RECYCLE ROLLS OUT IN VIC

The Sustainability Victoria Grant supported the rollout of 60 Rig Recycle stations across Victoria and set up a reprocessing line to start the process of recycling Rig Recycle materials.

RIG RECYCLE ROLLS OUT IN NSW

The NSW Recreational Fishing Trust Grant helped roll out 40 Rig Recycle stations across NSW, collecting fishing waste to reuse, repurpose or recycle.

RIG RECYCLE IS BORN

Rig Recycle is created through a source reduction plan as part of Tangaroa Blue Foundation’s ReefClean program, rolling out Rig Recycle stations across the Great Barrier Reef communities.
