AMDI Project Officer


We are looking for a multi-talented project officer to assist with all aspects of the AMDI platform including clean-up event coordination, workshop and presentation planning and facilitation, project administration and budgeting, reporting, grant writing and data entry.

The successful applicant needs to be able to travel, have a home office, and be able to spread a minimum of 16 hrs across the week including weekends. In addition, you need to be a professional and good communicator, a quick learner, a team player who can work independently and with a high attention to detail. 

In your 3-page cover letter, please address how you meet the following criteria:

• Understanding of the marine debris issue / Tangaroa Blue / AMDI.
• Versed in community engagement, presenting and public speaking.
• Experience in project management, budgeting, strategic planning and people management.
• Experience planning, implementing and coordinating on-ground events and programs.
• Practiced at engaging organisations to participate and cooperate in source reduction efforts.
• Able to analyse and record data, recognise patterns, and compile statistics for presentations and reports.
• Collaborate with stakeholders both inside and outside of the organisation to undertake various projects.
• Grant writing / reporting.
• Familiar with government processes.
• Must have First Aid/CPR Certificates and Working with Children card, and a current drivers licence.

 

Database Project Officer


Tangaroa Blue's Australian Marine Debris Database is growing every day with volunteers and partners across Australia sending in their data sheets from their beach, river and community clean-up events. We’ve recently hit a huge milestone of 13 million data points being recorded!

Our database team needs to grow to meet this demand and we are looking for an AMDI Database project officer to join our team.
This is a casual, part-time position for 16 hours spread across the week. The successful applicant is someone who can work from their home office and is committed to Tangaroa Blue's vision and ethics, have data management skills and experience.

In your 3-page cover letter, please address how you meet the following criteria:

• Experience working with a comprehensive dataset including collating data, assessing data against database requirements and preparing data for entry.
• Experience with relational databases with a spatial extension, specifically Postgres using PGAdmin (essential) and MS Access (desirable).
• Experience with QGIS spatial software.
• Understanding of database cleaning and maintenance.
• Able to write SQL queries to produce custom datasets for research and other purposes.
• Ability to find/identify locations in various geographical settings around Australia using Google Earth and other open access basemaps.
