Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre

Tinaroo-EEC-IntroTinaroo Environmental Education Centre (TEEC) is located on the banks of Tinaroo Dam on the Atherton Tablelands approximately 100 km west of Cairns.

The centre is bounded by a diverse range of environments : rich farming land to the south, rainforest (World Heritage listed) to the east and dry open forest to the west.

What does the Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre provide?

TEEC offers day visit and residential camping experiences for visiting students. Groups from preschool to Year 12, TAFE students, university students and the general public are users of this facility. Through a variety of environmental and outdoor experiences such as freshwater and forest studies, Waste Management, Energy efficiency, leadership and wilderness adventures, we endeavour to educate pupils towards the realisation of their personal potential and the development of an environmental ethic. These experiences will ensure they use sustainable practices in their daily lives.

At TEEC sustainable environmental practices encompass waste, water and energy management and the preservation of biodiversity. To assist pupils to achieve their personal potential we value and encourage responsibility, respect, cooperation, problem solving, independence and tolerance.
