Great Barrier Reef Clean-up – Ramsay Bay, Hinchinbrook Island
*NOTE* Saturday is now full, places are still available for Sunday!
Calling all citizen scientists, schools, community groups and ocean lovers!
This year, the ReefClean Great Barrier Reef Clean-up for Queensland’s Wet Tropics will be at the beautiful Ramsay Bay on Hinchinbrook Island from the 8th to the 11th of October!
Hinchinbrook Island is a National Park featuring spectacular granite mountain peaks and the famous Thorsborne Trail. Its semi-remote location and restricted visitor access keeps the island relatively pristine. However, rubbish and pollution borne on ocean currents threaten its ecosystems and wildlife. Join us and contribute to reducing the debris load on this beautiful natural wonder.
This is one of our flagship events for the Great Barrier Reef Clean-ups for 2020 and will include clean-up activities over four days on Hinchinbrook Island from October 8-11.
A core team of volunteers will have the opportunity to camp on nearby Goold Island for the full four days (Departing Wednesday 7th of October). Spaces are limited and will be on a first-come-first-served basis, so make sure to register ASAP!
If you miss out on the Goold Island camping, or cannot commit to 4 days of clean-ups, there will also be day-trip opportunities on the weekend, either Saturday the 10th, Sunday the 11th, or both. Free boat transfers will be available from Cardwell. Boat spaces are also limited, but if you have a boat and would like to make your own way over to Ramsay Bay, let us know and we would love to see you there. Boats will bring people over to the island every morning and back again in the afternoons.
Registrations are open, so click here to learn more. Or email johanna@tangaroablue.org for more info.
With the support of Absolute North Charters, Queensland Parks and Wildlife and local government, this promises to be our biggest one yet.
