Thanks for your interest in the Indian Ocean Territories Marine Debris Project 2018
This project is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, coordinated by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) and supported by Tangaroa Blue Foundation.

Please read about the inaugural Marine Debris Project 2017 here.

Please complete the application form to be considered for this volunteering opportunity. Applications close 15 February 2018.

Note: This is a self-funded volunteer opportunity so by applying to be part of the volunteer team you understand that airfare and accomodation costs are paid by you.

We will endeavour to save on volunteer costs wherever possible, including providing travel on the islands (by bus and 4WD) when working, lunch meals on work days, and coffee and granola for breakfast meals.

If you are selected, you will be part of a volunteer team that works for approximately 6 hours a day on work days. We plan to work 4 days out of 7 with plenty of opportunities to explore the islands, meet the locals, socialise with the team and take advantage of the beautiful natural environments.

Beyond the week events on each island , you might consider staying on or arriving early to enjoy more time exploring these beautiful natural locations. Read more on what you can expect to find on Cocos Keeling Islands and Christmas Island.

In making a decision to become a volunteer, please be aware that Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island are very different terrains and a greater level of fitness is required for Christmas Island.
