Orpheus Island Clean-up - QLD

From March 06, 2019 7:30 am until March 10, 2019 12:00 pm
Posted by Heidi Taylor

Orpheus Island, otherwise known as “Goolboddi Island” is part of the Hinchinbrook Shire.

The island is a national park and resides within a green zone of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. It is a semi-remote area located just off Lucinda, Ingham in Queensland, and is home to James Cook University’s research station and the Orpheus Island Lodge.

Tangaroa Blue clean-ups at Orpheus Island began in 2014 and are continually expanding to new sites that are riddled with old and new washed up marine debris from nearby communities and overseas!!
Join our team of volunteers and students from The School of Field Studies from March 6th to 9th for a multi-site clean-up to contribute to the protection of this magnificent marine park and national park, as well as the 15-year-old Australian Marine Debris Initiative Database.

We will be staying at the Orpheus Island Research Station’s accommodation for the 3 nights, there will be an opportunity to snorkel and explore, and a small fee is involved to cover the cost of food. Spaces are limited to 18 participants so please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  to:
