A massive thank you to the 2646+ volunteers who spared their time to help protect the Great Barrier Reef from marine debris.

73 clean-up groups submitted data to the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database, helping us learn what marine debris accumulates where. This data will be used to build a national picture of marine debris and contribute to source reduction plans and policy change on a regional and national scale!

What the GBR Community achieved in 2025

  • 2224 kgs marine debris removed
  • 75 Partner Organisations
  • 153 Clean-ups
  • 2646 volunteers
  • 19,761 L of marine debris removed
  • 73 clean-ups contributed data

We love seeing your clean-up photos!
