DESCRIPTION:Join us for a clean-up and to learn about our new Rig Recycle initiative, Tackle Back, at the 2024 Luca’s Legacy event.\nTangaroa Blue Foundation will be joining Coastal Waste Warriors, Estuary Guardians, Mandurah Cruises and River Guardians for Luca’s Legacy 2024. This special event was founded after a local dolphin, Luca, a one-year-old calf, was observed entangled in fishing line. Luca was rescued, and the fishing line was removed, but further entanglements eventually led to his passing. This motivated the creation of Luca’s Legacy, an annual clean-up event to help protect the Mandurah waterways.\nThis year, Tangaroa Blue Foundation will be joining the event to launch the Tackle Back project in Mandurah ( https://tangaroablue.org/rig-recycle/#tackle-back ), proudly funded by the City of Mandurah, TackleWorld Miami, Coastal Waste Warriors and Estuary Guardians Mandurah. Supported by WA Seabird Rescue and Recfishwest.\nJoin us at the event on Sunday, 27th October; clean-up will start at 9:00 am.\nMeeting point: Port Bouvard Yacht Club, 1 Thisbe Drive, Dawesville.\nThere will be a range of community stalls, coffee van and a special announcement by Coastal Waste Warriors and RecFish West. There will also be kids’ activities, prizes and a free sausage sizzle for all clean-up participants – more information about the event.
