SUMMARY:Responsible Recreational Fishing Launch
DESCRIPTION:Responsible Recreational Fishing Launch powered by World Academy of Sport, Rig Recycle and Tangaroa Blue Foundation.\nFishing has long grappled with various challenges, encompassing environmental, economic, and social concerns. Russell Conway, a prominent figure in the fishing community, recognised the necessity of taking proactive measures to address these challenges head-on.\nConway has played a pivotal role in establishing the Responsible Recreational Fishing Program (RRF). He identified the sector’s vulnerability to pressures aiming to restrict access and regulate recreational fishing activities.\nNow, in collaboration with the World Academy of Sport, the team is launching the RRF platform to promote global best practices. This initiative aims to educate fishers, develop necessary skills for recreational fishing, and implement programs to ensure a sustainable and responsible fishing industry for all recreational fishers.\nIn collaboration with Tangaroa Blue, boasting over two decades of citizen science experience monitoring ocean and waterway health, the team will launch recreational fishing citizen science programs. These initiatives will showcase our efforts in environmental management.\nFurthermore, in conjunction with Tangaroa Blue’s renowned circular economy recycling program, Rig Recycle, the RRF platform serves as a conduit between consumers and the industry. It aims to promote best practices in recycling, with a specific focus on fishing packaging and materials such as lines and spools.\nWe invite you to join us in celebrating the Victorian launch of Australia’s Responsible Recreational Fishing Program, alongside government officials, industry leaders, and recreational fishers.\nLocation : Albert Park Yachting & Angling Club, 129B Beaconsfield Parade, Albert Park VIC 3206, Australia\nDate: 4th May 2024, 9.30am – 11.30am\nPlease RSVP by May 2nd for catering purposes.\nhttps://events.humanitix.com/responsible-recreational-fishing-launch\nThis event is funded by Sustainability Victoria’s Circular Economy Communities Fund.\n
