SUMMARY:Cape Kimberley Clean-Up, Daintree, QLD
DESCRIPTION:What:Cape Kimberley Clean-up, Daintree QLD\nWhere:Cape Kimberley, Daintree QLD\nWhen: Tuesday 24th October 2023\nTo Register: Please email lucy@tangaroablue.org\nJoin us for our quarterly ReefClean clean-ups in Cape Kimberley on traditional lands of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people in the beautiful Daintree.\nAlong with other volunteers, you can make a practical contribution to the health of the marine and coastal environment of Far North Queensland.\nMeet Tangaroa Blue Coordinators at the Cape Kimberley carpark or contact us if you would like a lift from Cairns or Port Douglas. Lunch will be provided.\nWe will spend the morning collecting and recording marine debris for inclusion in the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) database. This is the national database that is used to identify sources of marine debris and find ways to reduce litter in the environment.\nThe event is part of the ReefClean program, aiming to clean-up and reduce the volume of marine debris generated in or entering the Great Barrier Reef and threatening the health of the reef and its inhabitants.\nVolunteers need to wear enclosed shoes, bring sun/rain protection, and plenty of drinking water (1 to 2 litres is recommended). We try to ensure that all Tangaroa Blue events are free from single-use plastic, so bring along your reusable water bottle. All equipment and drinking water top-ups will be provided.\nWe will provide you with a light lunch, so let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.\nTo register or for any questions, please email lucy@tangaroablue.org\n——————————————–\nPlease note this is a COVID Safe Event – we do require volunteers to register. Please ensure that you check the latest QLD Government COVID requirements. If you feel unwell, please don’t attend and stay at home, we’ll catch you at a future event.\nReefClean is funded by the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and delivered by Tangaroa Blue Foundation.\n
