SUMMARY:ReefClean GBR Clean-up Event- Wonga Beach, QLD
DESCRIPTION:What: ReefClean GBR Clean-up Event- Wonga Beach, QLD\nWhere: Wonga Beach Park\nWhen: Saturday 16th October, 9AM-1PM\nTo Register: Please email hannah@tangaroablue.org to register your interest.\nJoin us at Wonga Beach (meet us at Wonga Beach Park) on the 16th of October from 9AM-1PM.\nThe clean-up data you collect will help us track litter to its source and prevent it from entering the waste stream and harming our Great Barrier Reef.\nFollowing the collection of debris, volunteers will assist in the sorting and recording of all debris collected. A member of the Tangaroa Blue team will assist volunteers with this process and explain how to correctly enter this important data into the AMDI database.\nVolunteers need to wear enclosed shoes, bring sun/rain protection, and plenty of drinking water (1 to 2 litres is recommended). We try to ensure that all events are free from single-use plastic, so bring along your reusable water bottle. All equipment and drinking water top-ups will be provided.\nPlease email hannah@tangaroablue.org to register your interest.\nWe would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we will be meeting for this event, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.\n………………………………………………………………………………………….\nMore about the Great Barrier Reef Clean-up:\nAre you a citizen scientist who is concerned about the health of the Great Barrier Reef? Maybe a school or community group who would like to monitor the health of the Great Barrier Reef? Or are you a member of the local government, and would like to lead by example by becoming actively involved in contributing to the overall health of one of the most biologically diverse environments on this planet?\nThis October is our month-long series of events that focus on looking after our Reef. Tangaroa Blue Foundation, through the ReefClean Project is calling all ocean lovers to participate in the Great Barrier Reef Clean-Up.\nThe program also invites groups to adopt and register their own coastal or waterway sites to be cleaned throughout the month, so if you know of a site in your area that needs attention, we encourage you to register that site and get a group together.\nFor more information, visitwww.reefclean.orgor email reefclean@tangaroablue.org.\n———————————————–\nPlease note this is a COVID Safe Event – we do require volunteers to register. Please ensure that you check the latest QLD Government COVID requirements and if you feel unwell, please don’t attend, and stay at home, we’ll catch you at a future event.\nReefClean is funded by the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and delivered by Tangaroa Blue Foundation.\n
