DESCRIPTION:What: Facing Island Beach Clean-Up\nWhen: Wednesday 14 th April 2021 7:30 am – 5pm\nWhere: We will meet at Curtis Ferry Services on Alf O’Rourke Drive, Gladstone Marina for 8am Departure to Facing Island returning by 5pm\nTo Register: Limited spaces are available so please contact Ian Anderson by email ian@tangaroablue.org or phone 0458 737 760\nFacing Island Beach Clean-Up is one of our twice-yearly ReefClean projects aimed at helping prevent marine debris impacting the Great BarrierReef. The event involves a clean-up as well as sorting and entering what is collected into the Australian Marine Debris Initiative Database.\nThis April event will be done in partnership and support of the Gidarjil\nDevelopment Corporation Land and Sea Rangers and the Gladstone Regional Council Conservation Team as part of their land care program on Facing Island and with support from Fitzroy Basin Association through their Community Bursary.\nPlease be sure to bring a hat, sun-safe clothing, closed-in shoes, personal snacks and water bottle. Top ups will be provided. Lunch will also be provided by Tangaroa Blue.\nWe would like to acknowledge the Port Curtis Coral Coast people, (the Bailai, Gurang, Gooreng Gooreng and Tarabilang Bunda groups) as Traditional Custodians of the land on which we meet, and would also like to pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.\nAdditional Information:\nFacing Island one of the two largest islands surrounding the Gladstone Harbour. The island bounds the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, has a significant flatback turtle nesting habitat, wetlands and mangrove systems important for fish and bird life.\nReefClean is funded by the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and delivered by Tangaroa Blue Foundation\n——————————\nAll our events comply with COVID 19 restrictions current at the time of the event, so participation will depend on the travel restrictions in place at the time.
