DESCRIPTION:What: Litter Trap Audit\nWhen: Tuesday, 10 November 2020 | 09:00 – 13:00\nWhere: Townsville Bulletin Square | Corner of Flinders St & Stokes St Townsville\nTo Register: Please email heidi@tangaroablue.org\nThe Bridging the Gap with Litter Traps Project has seen a total of 21 at-source litter traps, known as Drain Buddies, installed in hotspot locations around Townsville City Council (TCC).\nThe purpose of this project is to prevent and identify land-based sources of marine debris polluting Townsville’s waterways and the iconic Great Barrier Reef located just off the coast.Join us for the first round of audits to see what has been captured! Tangaroa Blue will provide training on the data collection along with project partners Cleanwater Group and Townsville City Council.\nPlease note this is a COVID Safe Event – we do require volunteers to register by emailing heidi@tangaroablue.org – and please ensure that you check the latest QLD Government COVID requirements https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/public-health-directions/movements-gatherings – and if you feel unwell – please don’t attend and stay at home – we’ll catch you on another event later in the year ???? Please note that maintaining social distancing requirements is the responsibility of the attendee.\nTangaroa Blue will provide all PPE, volunteers need to wear enclosed shoes, bring their own lunch/snacks and drinking water.\nThe project has been initiated by TCC as part of the ‘Catalysing Local Change with Local Marine Advisory Committees’ Grant, funded by the partnership between the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation (GBRF), with support from the Local Marine Advisory Committee (LMAC).\n
