Youth off the Streets at Green Point

20121202 Green Point NathanThe objective for this week's clean up for the Hawkesbury Nepean Foreshore Clean Up Program was Green Point (Porto Bay) along NSW's Hawkesbury River.

Joining coordinator Graham Johnston was a team from Father Chris O'Rileys' 'Youth off the Streets" and Macmasters Beach Gold Duke of Ed member Nathan Grennan.

This site was only been impacted by marine debris, but also lantana weed, so volunteers had their work cut out for them tackling both these tasks during the activity. This was the first time for "Youth off the Street" to join with the river clean up program, and the light drizzling rain present didn't dampen their enthusiasm. Both marine debris removal and lantanta removal was accomplished with lots of larger items removed from this site. The most unusual item found was a toliet which was found under the lantana!
